Skin cancer – like cavities and gum disease – is largely preventable. Avoiding UV rays will help prevent skin cancer. Avoid the sun between 10AM and 4PM. Wear UV protected sunglasses and a hat with a 2 inch brim. Wear long sleeves and long pants – it is more effective than sunscreen. Wear sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and with protection against UVA rays too. Zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, helioplex, mexoryl, avobenzone are the ingredients that are effective against UVA rays.
