Caregiver’s, including anyone sharing saliva with the new baby, should be sure to have good oral health. Bacteria are shared from kissing, tasting food before giving it to the baby, and sharing utensils. Pregnant mothers should get their teeth cleaned and checked. When the baby get his or her first tooth, she should be brought in to discuss healthy eating habits and good brushing and flossing habits for the whole family. Share healthy habits instead of bacteria! The child’s first visits should be fun and informative – don’t wait until something hurts.
